Tonight we will hear the President give the State of the Union speech, which is the state of America.  Every year the President addresses Congress with his views on the current state of our nation.  The President gives his plans for legislation and ideas on how to better serve our country.  When I hear about the State of the Union, the first thing that crosses my mind is the diminishing state of America.

Our nation was founded on principals that acknowledged a higher power.  Even our currency depicts the motto “In God We Trust.”  As a country, do the majority of American's trust God anymore?  It seems that there is no longer the silent majority.   It is evident that our nation is in moral decline.  There are so many pressing issues facing our country, that you would never get done making a list.  What I do know for sure is that once commonly accepted morality issues are being thrown to the wayside.  Biblical truths are being turned into perversions.  God is no longer a staple in the home, which is why family structures are in decay.

The state of America is dismal if we do not turn back to God.

If we want to get this country back on track, we cannot do it through legislation.  We cannot make laws to fix a society that is in moral decay.  Politicians cannot legislate morality.  Morality starts with you.  It begins with every believer in Christ leading by example.  It is not good enough to call yourself a Christian.  Being a Christian is being a follower of Christ.  What Christ represented to us in his sinless life, we are to replicate with our own.  We are called by Jesus to show others the way and share the Gospel with them.

Instead of getting mad at your TV tonight, I encourage you to evaluate your life.  Whether or not you agree with the President is irrelevant in God's Kingdom.  Do not take your eye off the Kingdom and expect politicians to do your job for you.  If you are a follower of Christ, start acting like it.  Bear the fruit of the spirit for everyone to see.

Galatians 5:22-23 NASB But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
