It seems like people don't know how to treat others with kindness anymore. You see it when you watch TV, read it in social media and notice it when you go to the store. With a society that is in constant moral decay, respect is on the back burner. We divide ourselves into one or the other instead of trying to get along civilly.
Do we treat others, the way God wants us to treat them? Are we quick to judge others actions and start attacking them?
Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
When we are conversing with others, are we leading a Godly example?
Being a small business owner, I get the opportunity to interact with a lot of different people every day. I have been self-employed for nearly 17 years. I have seen just about everything in that time. One thing that I have noticed is that morale is very low everywhere you go. Motivation in people seems to be gone. There are a lot of people out there hurting and do not know where to go. It is sad to say that Christians have not done a good job reaching out to those in need.
Do we treat others well?
Sure we donate to food banks, give money to the red kettle and volunteer. But what are we doing in our daily lives? Are we a good witness to others?
Your example may be the only interaction someone has with a Christian. Whether you like it or not, you represent God as a Christian. Your actions and how you treat other can lead someone to Christ or turn them away. Just let that sink in a moment. Have you ever yelled at a waitress at a restaurant? Were you rude to that guy that bagged your groceries? Did you hold the door open for the disabled man?
I guarantee that everyone can think of a recent time where they did not treat others well. How did our actions impact a nonbeliever? We may never know, and our lives will probably never cross again. Look at every day as an opportunity to treat others kindly. Show them Gods love and make yourself a Christian example to them. You may never know what your small act of kindness will mean to someone.
