We take things for granted all of the time. Living the busy lives that we now live, it is often easy to overlook the simple things in life. Sometimes we over look things like your health for example. Do you ever feel like you take things for granted like your health? We don't give this much thought until we experience a problem that keeps us from regular activity.
My youngest son is very active. He is not the type to sit around and watch TV. Being active is just what he does. The only time he settles down is at the end of the day when he is getting ready for bed. Other than being sick, he doesn't miss a beat. About a week ago he started complaining about his leg hurting. When your five year old complains about their leg hurting, it can be many things. Growing pains or a slight discomfort from being over active. Well, today things started to change.
My son has been hobbling around like an eighty-year-old grandpa. He has a hard time keeping weight on his leg. We have to help him in and out of the vehicle. He can barely walk up the stairs. Today my wife took him to our family doctor. After going down to the hospital for x-rays, we were told he needs to see an orthopedic specialist. This is not something that any parent wants to hear. We take things for-granted, like my son's ability to walk. When stuff like this happens in our life, it causes us to take a step back.
Why do we take things for granted?
One thing that is included in our nightly prayers is for our family's health. It is always just a matter of time before someone is dealing with a sickness or ailment. It is always good to praise God for your health because you never know when it will be gone. I am thankful every day for my family and their health. Having someone in your family hurt is not a fun experience to go through. It takes a toll on the rest of the household.
What I do know is that trials do bring us closer to God if we lean on him. God always has his hand in every situation in life. As a Christian, I find comfort in knowing that God can heal anyone. Look what Jesus did for the blind, the lepers and those who couldn't walk. Healing comes from God alone. Let us not take things for granted in our life. When we do experience life's trials, remember that God is watching over us and protecting us.
Mark 2:10-12 NASB But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—He *said to the paralytic, 11 “I say to you, get up, pick up your pallet and go home.”12 And he got up and immediately picked up the pallet and went out in the sight of everyone, so that they were all amazed and were glorifying God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this.”
