All of the time when someone dies, you hear people saying that they went to a better place. These empty comfortless words are used too often to mask the reality of hell. Many times people say they went to a better place to make the living feel better about their loss. The reality of the situation is, if you did not put your trust in Jesus Christ you are going to hell. This isn't my opinion or my words; it is directly from the Bible.
Romans 6:23 NASB For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
When someone dies, you have a pastor come and say a few kind words at the funeral. The pastor may have never met the person before. But the pastor is being asked to talk about the deceased for a few moments. Often the message offers a prayer, a quick background of the deceased and a Bible verse about how all of the pain is gone once you go to heaven. Instead of sharing a message of salvation, the crowd is reminded of a better place after death. What is often forgotten is a path to get to heave and the consequences of not getting there and ending up in hell.
Will you be in a better place when you die?
Folks, there are only two options for your soul after life here on earth. You either go to heaven, or you choose to go to hell. No matter what choice you make, you will either reap the rewards or suffer the consequences of those decisions. There is no middle ground such as purgatory that people can pray you out of. The Bible is very clear that the wages of sin is death. The free gift of God does not come with any strings attached, all you have to do is believe. Once you are dead, there is nothing more that can be done to save your soul. Every one of us will have to give an account for our actions here on earth.

Judgment at the Throne of God
Revelation 20:11-15 NASB Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose presence earth and heaven fled away, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of themaccording to their deeds. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
