Jesus teaches us that there are no “good Christians”. Why is it that so many people think they are a “good person,” or even a good Christian? There is only one who is good. Knowing this to be true opens the door for us to start changing our life.
“And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, God.” Luke 18:19 – KJV
Imagine how I felt reading the Bible cover-to-cover last year. Reading through the Old Testament left me in fear learning I would never be a “Good Christian.”
It wasn’t until reading Romans in the New Testament that I realized that none of us are good that God knows we are unable to live without sinning and that is why he gave His only son.
At that point, everything began to change, and ever since then, I am on a mission to be a better person, to do more for others without expectation of anything in return. To daily study what God wants for me, and to trust in Him, and only him.
Not one who is a part of “Good Christians”
I realize that we will never be good Christians, and anyone who thinks this is possible doesn’t understand God’s word. It is not feasible to be a “good Christian” and be human.
No longer am I hurt or offended by others who show me disrespect, even say words meant to hurt me, or question my values. I know now that there is only one judgment that matters in my life and that comes from the only one who is good.
At the same time, Satan is always working to pull me away. He works in those who consider themselves good Christians as well as non-Christians. He works by enticing hate, derogatory comments and a show of disrespect.
The stronger I am in my faith, the more challenges I am thrown to derail my journey, and I will not quit. You can judge all you want, your judgment is worthless, as there is only one judgment that matters and that comes only from God.
