Sometimes it is hard to see that God loves you.  When you are going through struggles in your life, it may seem like he is not there.  Sometimes our prayers go unanswered the way we want them to be.  Our simple minds cannot comprehend the complexity of God.  One thing for sure about God is his love.  He created us, so there is no doubt he loves us.  At times, we are too stubborn to see his love.  Sometimes people may not understand God's love.

God gave you life.

When you doubt that God loves you, think about what he has done in your life.  First and foremost he breathed life into you.  What does that mean?  Without the breath of God, we were nothing more than formed dust upon our creation.  Take a look at Genesis 2:7.

Genesis 2:7 NASB Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

God made you in his image.

You might be wondering why God made you the way he did.  If you are unfamiliar with the Bible, you might have missed the passage where God made us in his image.  Just think about that for a minute.  God was so pleased with his creation (humans) that he formed them to look like him.  Not only did he form us to look like him, but he also breathed life into us like in Genesis 2:7.

Genesis 1:27 NASB  God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Who would make someone in their image and breath life into them?  Only a God who has unending love for his creation.

Sacrificing his son for us.

Jesus is the second person in the trinity.  Jesus, the son of God, plays a role in showing Gods love for you.  When sin entered the world through decisions made by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, we became separated from God.  The reason why we became separated from God is because he is sinless.  When man sinned, they were no longer a perfect creation.  The only way to repair this creation and restore it was through the sacrifice of Jesus.

Jesus was the only person to walk on this earth that lived a sinless life.  In fact, he was crucified for our sins.  You might be asking yourself why God would let his one and only son die on the cross for our sins.  The answer is simple and painful at the same time.  Look at Matthew 27:46 to hear Jesus' plea to the father in heaven.

Matthew 27:46 NASB About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

God loves you more than you know.

Jesus cried out My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?  Can you imagine the immense sorrow and pain that you would feel watching your son being killed right in front of you?  Could you possibly bear hearing them cry out to you “why Have you forsaken Me?  That cry would bring any father to tears.  Any human father that had the power to make the pain stop would do so.

God let his son Jesus die on the cross not because he didn't care or because he couldn't stop it.  God's plan to rescue us from our sin was through the blood of Christ.  God loves you so much that he let his son cry out in agony and die a painful death on the cross.  If God let this happen to his son, then think about how much he loves every one of us.  The only reason Jesus died was because of our sin.  God loves us so much that he wanted to give us a way to still get to heaven even though we are not worthy.

Next time you question whether or not God loves you, look no further than the crucifixion of his son.
