It is important to get involved with your local Church. Surrounding yourself with a body of believers creates a network of people in your community that can enhance your spiritual journey. If you haven't figured out, there is more to Church than just Sunday service. All of the activities that are available in your church create opportunities for you to grow with other believers.
One of the most important things that you gain when you get involved with your Church is a sense of family. A Church family is a unique way to build a support group for your life. Why do Churches have get together's and pot lucks? It isn't for the food; it is for the building of the Church family. Having events like this allows you to connect with people that you may never meet in Church on Sunday. Some of you might be wondering why it is important to go to events like this? The answer the Bible gives is that community between brothers and sisters in Christ helps build the Church body.
Romans 12:4-5 For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
When you get involved with Church, you become part of the body of Christ.
The Church body is significant in the fact that it becomes the hands and feet of God. Every person who is part of a Church family serves a different function in that body. Being part of the Church family exposes us to other areas of the Church body. Being connected builds community. Having a variety of believers will help you grow in different ways. A Church body also means that you are not alone in your spiritual journey. When we are part of a community, we pray for each other and mentor each other.
If you don't get involved in your local Church, you are missing out on a lot of opportunities to grow. Sometimes the opportunities allow for others to help you and sometimes the opportunities allow for you to help others. It is a great feeling to be surrounded by people who care about the Lord as much as you do.
Ephesians 4:16 NASB from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.
