It is important to cherish every day like it is your last.  Today marks the sixteenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks that struck our nation.  Every year on this day we get reminded that people were murdered by terrorists.  We all remember where we were when we heard the news of what had happened.  For myself, I was in my college accounting class.  There were several TV's that had smoke coming from the first tower.  Everyone assumed that the plane hit the tower by accident.  No one thought that anything like a terrorist attack would be happening.

On that morning sixteen years ago today, people got up and went about their routine.  I am sure that their day started with a cup of coffee, a drive to work and a walk to their office.  Everything about that day was business as usual.  I am sure that most of the people arriving in downtown New York that day did not give a second thought to their actions.  It is sometimes overlooked that we should cherish every day of our life.  I know I do it and I am sure many people did it that day as well.  At 8:45 AM flight 11 out of Boston hit the first tower.  This collision changed the history of our country forever.

Cherish every day like it is your last.

All of the victims who died sixteen years ago today had one thing in common.   The victims thought that they would return home that night after a day of work.  Little did they know that they would never see another day again.

Proverbs 27:1 NASB Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth.

James 4:14 NASB Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.

September 11th is a good day to reflect on our lives.  The anniversary of what happened makes me cherish every day.  We are not guaranteed tomorrow so we should live like today is our last.  First and foremost making sure that we have secured our relationship with Christ.  Secondly, living our lives in a Christ-like manner to honor him.  For our rewards are not of this earth but in heaven.
