You can't hide from sin; it is impossible.  No matter how hard you try, someone is always watching you.  Besides that, God is still watching you too.  Concealing sin just prolongs the inevitable.  You will get caught, and you will be exposed.  Today, our State Senate Leader found out the hard way that you can't hide sin.  In an embarrassing fiasco, Senator Dix was caught at a bar kissing another woman.  Keep in mind; Senator Dix is married with three children at home.  Someone at the bar recognized the Senator and began to record him on their phone.  Dix was meeting with the woman whom was not his wife and was caught on tape kissing her at the bar.

We all have sin that is not pleasant to expose.  At some point in everyone's life, they have done things that they regret.  These things could be big or small.  The sin could have been exposed or kept in the shadows.  No matter what the sin is, it is still a sin.  Reading the commentary on the Bill Dix story is interesting.  People are quick to throw out the card that we expect more from our public servants.  Other people were ready to shame the Senator for his behavior.  What these same people need to do is take a look in the mirror.  Sin is the same in God's eyes.  Their sin of gluttony, drunkenness, anger, hate, or pornography looks the same to God.

What I have found out on my spiritual walk is that pointing out the flaws in others does nothing.  It does nothing for the person under fire, and it does nothing for the accuser.  We all get tangled in other people's business at some point.  This is just dumb, and we should know better.  As Christians, we should be the ones that people expect more out of.  We know what is right and what is wrong.  It is not a secret what God calls sin.  Being too proud to admit that we are all on the same level as the disgraced Senator is ridiculous.

Don't try to hide from sin.

Why hide from sin?  It is dumb.  All it does is create more significant problems.  As a kid, I remember that situations only got worse the longer you took to come clean.  Getting punished when mom or dad found out was much worse than getting punished for telling the truth.  There is something about telling the truth that is liberating.

John 8:32 NASB  and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

Absolutely the truth will set you free.  Sin becomes a chain that won't let go.  There is only one truth, and that is God's truth.  It is time for us all to have an honest conversation with God and expose the sin in our life that God already knows exists.
