When you think of the worst sin imaginable what comes to mind?  Do murder, theft, and adultery top your list?  Do you consider homosexuality the worst sin of all?  If you take a look at sin in the Bible, there are a wide variety of examples.  The Bible shows us these examples so that we can know right from wrong.  These models bring to reality that man is separated from God by sin.  If you thoroughly read your Bible, there is one sin that will not get us into heaven.  If you haven't figured it out yet, I will explain at the end of this blog.

So what constitutes the worst sin?  If you spend a while in Facebook land, you will quickly see what everyone's definition of sin is.  One topic, in particular, caught my eye the other day.  The story featured a gay pride parade.  Several Christians chimed in and suggested that homosexuality was such a horrible sin that people should speak out against the event.  Following those comments, several people decided to defend homosexuality by saying that God made them homosexual.  The arguing and bickering went on for quite a while.  This conversation is the perfect example why you never win an argument over a computer.  Both sides started throwing out Bible verses as spears.  In the end, no one won the debate and both sides foolishly engaged in counter Biblical positions.

What I have always thought was instead of pointing out the worst sin in others, why don't we talk about salvation instead?  Until someone changes their heart to serve the Lord, they are going to get defensive when you point out their sins.  Our job is not to point the finger and say your sins are worse than mine.  What we are however called to do is share the gospel with others.

The worst sin that you can commit will send you straight to hell.

There is only one sin that you cannot be forgiven for.  This sin is denying God the father and Jesus, the son as your savior.  If you do not believe that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, you will not walk through heavens doors.  No matter how “good” of life you think that you have lived, your good deeds will not get you into heaven.  When you take your last breath here on earth, you will have to give an account of your life.  If you denied Jesus here on earth, he would deny you before God.

Matthew 10:33 NASB But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.

The bottom line is that there are no sins that will keep you from forgiveness.  No matter how big your sin is, Jesus died so that you could be forgiven.  If you take one thing away from this blog tonight, realize that God loves you where you are at in your life.  No matter how dark of place or deep the hole your life is in, forgiveness awaits you.  All you have to do is believe that Jesus is the son of God and he died as punishment for your sins.  Once you ask for forgiveness, your sins will be forgiven.  Our sins are not against man; they are against God.  Only God can forgive sins.  Our focus needs to be on him, not satisfying others.
