We should always lean on Christ as a first resort instead of last resort. Sometimes it is hard to break the cycle of despair. One thing that I have figured out over the years during my spiritual journey is to lean on Christ first. Instead of looking for a solution to a problem or getting frustrated by the situation, turning to Christ first helps get my priorities straight. Most peoples initial reaction is to process the situation for themselves instead of bringing it before the Lord. Doing this enacts a me first situation instead of a Christ first situation. Trust me when I say that without the help of Christ, none of our conditions will satisfactorily be resolved.
When I see people in my life struggling, most often the efforts are not met with a prayer. It seems as though the farther you get away from God, the harder your situation becomes. Like it or not, God gives us trials so that we lean on Christ and draw closer to him. If everything in our life went perfectly, we wouldn't feel the need to lean on Christ. Instead of looking at struggles in your life as bad luck, look at them as blessings. I know this is particularly hard when the situation involves a death, a divorce or a fractured relationship. No matter how big of trial you face, there are always instances where God shines through.
When we lean on Christ, we find comfort.
What good comes of worrying? When we lean on Christ for all of our situations good and bad, we are asking for his hand in guiding our way. Wouldn't it make more sense to let Jesus take control of your situation instead of you worrying or stressing about it? Stress and anxiety can both lead to sins. They can become sins when they lead to a lack of faith in God.
Philippians 4:6 NASB Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Having a relationship with Christ is the only tool that you need to remove stress and worry in your life. God sent his son to earth to save us from our sins. Why not utilize the most significant gift ever given to man? Let go of your stress and worry and put your faith in Christ. You will find peace and comfort as you have never known before.
