Does our Faith Light a Fire or Burn You Out?

Light a Fire

Does your faith light a fire for all the world to see or does it burn you out? Just think about that for a moment. When we embark on a spiritual journey and a relationship with Jesus, we ignite a fire in our soul. When we are watchers on the sidelines, we often become burnt out. Instead of our hope being in the saving grace of Jesus, we instead form our lives around things and activities. Instead of doing work for the Lord, we work to please ourselves. What can I get out of this situation? How is this convenient for me?

A good way to see if you have lost touch with your faith is by measuring the burn in your soul. Living your life for Jesus and integrating his love in every aspect of your life is an excellent way to light a fire. Leading others to Christ can be one of the most challenging things that a Christian can do. Leading others can also be the most rewarding thing at the same time. Instead of getting our gratification out of things that we do, we get to share in the joy of a new life lived for Christ. It is amazing to see how our faith can light a fire in others. When we shine our light for all the world to see, people take notice. They want what you have. They see the happiness in your life.

Light a fire in others.

Seeing others grow spiritually through the light that you shine is one of the greatest feelings that one can encounter. Sometimes the people that we need to reach are those that are not easily reached. We are called to share the good news with others. How can we possibly share the good news with others if we do not know the good news ourselves? To move from a smolder to a blazing fire, we must walk the walk. Having a relationship with Jesus creates the walk in our life.

2 Timothy 2:15 NASB “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.”

When we tend to get burnt out on religion, it is because we have put our hope in man instead of God. When you have a relationship with Jesus, you cannot help but be on fire for the Lord. Clinging to our strengths and failures does not put our trust in the Lord. When we are all in for the Lord, it will show. Rely on him and trust him for everything in your life. God will use you to reach lost souls through your faithfulness to him.
