Focusing on my children better bonding

focusing on my children

Focusing on my children means something different than in the past. I am spending more quality time with them when I have them. Every day is something different this summer, and I want them to have the best summer ever.

This week, my daughter attended Vacation Bible School. She also traveled to Hope Bible Church in Des Moines, IA with me while we participated in Celebrate Recovery worship services. My daughter is excited about getting to know Jesus and is developing her faith.

Did I mention that my daughter is seven years old, and has not attended Church before six months previous? I'm so excited about her enthusiasm for the Lord. She's sharing her faith with others as well.

She's been a daddy's girl the whole time, but now she's even more engaged. She discusses prayer and Jesus, and she's more loving than ever.

Tonight we attended a Freedom Festival event at the Kernels(semi-professional team) baseball stadium. They let us put blankets down in the outfield and showed a movie tonight, and it was a beautiful evening.

We had so much fun and cuddled when the temperatures cooled down. We discussed the film, and we even talked about Church as she is excited about going to her worship services on Sunday morning.

How amazing is it that she knew nothing about Jesus six months ago, and now she is so on fire for Christ? I am so blessed to have her want to participate and have a relationship with the Lord!

“But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” – Matthew 19:14 NLT

And, she knows how committed I am, I think she knows how I have changed since making a commitment to developing my faith.

And while I have had friendships whither away, my bond with my kids is stronger than ever! We communicate better and have more fun at the same time.

Limited time to focus on my children

Unfortunately, my kids are only with me every other week. I wish that they were with me full time, but that is not possible. The fact that I only have them half-time makes me even more vigilant to make every moment count with them, and I feel great about where we are going.

I thank God for helping me build an even stronger bond with my children, and for allowing me to spend so much time on them. We have got make every moment count.
