It is really hard to understand why life's not fair. I am constantly battling with my children over this very issue. If one kid gets to do something, the others think they need to do it as well. I get told all the time, dad that isn't fair. My response is life's not fair. They don't like that answer, but have come to accept it over the years. My intentions are not to be mean or unfair to them. I just want them to understand in this world, life's not fair. No matter what we do or want to do, we will always see an injustice in our life.
Society has made it a habit over the past decade to make everything “fair”. Hard work is vilified and everyone thinks they deserve the same as everyone else without having to work for it. And you know what, some people do work just as hard as others and fall short. That is just the way it is. This is one of the many cold facts of life.
What does the Bible say about life's not fair?
Life on earth is not fair. When there is sin in the world, there will always be an unequal balance in life. The good news is our God is just. He makes all things equal according to his will. Lets look at a couple verses.
Proverbs 16:11 “A just balance and scales belong to the LORD; All the weights of the bag are His concern.”
Colossians 4:1 “Masters, grant to your slaves justice and fairness, knowing that you too have a Master in heaven.”
It is comforting knowing that our sins are all weighed equally in God's eyes. One sin does not tip the scale more than another. When we die and meet face to face with God, we will not have to tell him life's not fair. We will see the balance and fairness of God's judgment on our life. Wrongs will be made right. God will deliver just punishment on those who have sinned against him.
As hard as it is to accept, we will never think that life is fair here on earth. Our faith and trust should not be with worldly comfort. We should find comfort in knowing that God will someday deliver us from the injustices in our life.
