Your Truth Vs Gods Truth

Gods Truth

There are two types of truth in our world today, your truth and Gods truth.  One truth is made up out of convenience, and the creator makes one.  Gods truth never changes.  It never has and never will.  Just because society changes their way of thinking does not mean that it is a truth.  Human-made truths are generated for one purpose, and that is to cover up sin.  Sin is dark, and sin is evil.  It is what separates us from God.

Oprah gave a speech at the Golden Globes the other night.  In her remarks, she mentioned speaking your truth.  What exactly did she mean by speaking your truth?  Take a look at a line from her speech.

I want to say that I value the press more than ever before as we try to navigate these complicated times, which brings me to this: what I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have.

When you are living a sinful, shame-filled life, it is seemingly easier to justify your bad behavior.  What often happens to people in these types of situations is that they make their conditions worse.  Repentance is the only way to start the process of living a life for Christ.

In Oprah's speech, she was encouraging people to be who you want to be.  There is one big problem with that.  Does being who we want to follow Gods truth?

Why does Gods truth matter?

It matters because a denial of sin will lead you straight to hell.  Being passive about the repercussions of sin is what I am talking about.  Far too long, Christians have set idle and accepted sinful behavior.  Silence is acceptance of the behavior.  If you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.  Gods truth tells us that we are all sinners.  Gods truth tells us that we must seek forgiveness from Jesus.  I am not sure why this is such a hard concept to grasp?

I am not saying you need to scorn others or their sins.  What I am saying is that we need to call sin what it is.  We have an obligation to God as Christians to share his truths with others.  If we want to be part of the Kingdom, then we need to start acting like we are part of the Kingdom.

Oprah speech included feeling good truths. Accepting yourself and your truths does not lead to repentance, it leads to disobedience.  Disobedience leads us down a path of destruction and separates us from God.

John 8:32 NASB “and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
