We Need to Do Some Self-Reflection in Our Lives

Self Reflection

Self-reflection on my life is something that I haven't done in the past.  You get in the mode of today is the same as yesterday and tomorrow will be the same as today.  We all have things we are thankful for, and all have things that we take for granted.  It seems like the bigger our struggles are, the more we expect a change in our lives to consider our life a success.  Self-reflection makes us take a step back and look at the bigger picture.  The harder the journey, the more to be thankful for when the ship turns around right?  Wrong.  Self-reflection and thankfulness in the simple daily things can have a huge impact on our life.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 NASB “in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

How does self-reflection apply to our lives?

There is a reason why we are supposed to give thanks in ALL circumstances.  Everything in our life can be a blessing.  Sometimes negative experiences blossom into a positive experience.  It is hard to see that during the eye of the storm.  I am sure if you are struggling right now with something overwhelming and you don't care what I have to say about giving thanks.  Have you been pushing forward down the same road without giving thanks to God?  Are you pushing against a brick wall and getting nowhere?

Try giving thanks.  Do some reflection in your life and pray about it.  Start with praying about the good things going on in your life.  I'm sure some of you will have to dig deep here, but just try some self-reflection in your life.

I know that God has and will always be working in my life.  I can see certain aspects of my life turn over tenfold in the past year.  Some of the struggles that I face are still with me on a daily basis, but they are better.  Not because the situation is better, but because I let God start to work on the problems instead of tackling them myself.  As I reflect, you know why I am thankful for my struggles?  Because I don't have to work on them alone and I know someone hears my prayers.
