Seeing Through The Dense Fog That Clouds Our Lives

Where I live, we have had dense fog for several days now.  You can barely see out your windows and it is even harder to drive in.  Dense fog can make a easy task really hard, because you cannot see what you are doing.  Sometimes the dense fog is so thick that we cannot even function outside of our home.

With dense fog in weather, there is nothing we can do but wait till it lifts.  No matter how fast or slow we drive our car through it, we cannot separate the clouds.  It is frustrating and you feel trapped because there is nothing you can do.

What about the dense fog in our own lives?

Just like bad weather, there are things in our lives that cloud our judgments.  No matter how hard we try to break through the storm, it seems like it is still there.

Psalm 107:28-31Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven.  Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man!

Jesus in the middle of a storm.

The good news is that there is a way to calm the storm in our lives.  Unlike foggy weather, we can do something.  Relying on God during darkest hour will break apart the burden.

But you say I pray and pray and nothing happens.  I am going to give up because I have lost faith.  Jesus addressed our faithlessness as well.

Matthew 8:26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.”

If our God can stand up and stop the wind and the waves, then why would you doubt that he can fix the struggles in your life?  When the wind and the waves came, Jesus was sleeping.  He did not stress or worry about the storm because he was in control the entire time.  He watched as his disciples panicked.  Shaking him to awake him.  Jesus awoke to tell the panicking disciples “You of little faith”.

Do we have complete faith in our God?  Is our faith lacking?  We should not act like the disciples in the middle of the storm.  We should not have little faith.  Have complete faith knowing that the God who controls the wind and the waves is in control of your problems and life.
