Why Do School Shootings Happen?

school shootings happen

School shootings happen for many reasons with many contributing factors.  Instead of looking for the cause, many people tend to look at the symptoms.  Ultimately why school shootings happen is because the aggressor does not have a relationship with Christ.  When you choose to accept Christ, you decide to follow him.  In determining to follow him, you are required to be Christ-like.  Being Christ-like means that you emulate the example that Christ showed while he was here on earth.

God has been removed from schools by the secular culture.  Too many Christians stood idly by and let this happen.  No amount of gun control or therapy will ever stop a school shooting.  These things are symptoms of a cause.  If you are dealing with a person that does not have a relationship with Christ, no amount of legislation will stop them from committing a heinous act.  No amount of arming teachers will prevent someone from trying to kill another.

When our society kicked God out of schools, we created an environment for Satan to flourish.  The decline of a nuclear family also paved the road for Satan to step in.  When you have a vast number of people from a generation that do not know God and come from fatherless homes, you have a serious problem  I am not saying that all children raised in a single-family home will turn away from God.  Many capable single parents do the best job they can at raising their children.  What I am however saying is that when order, structure, and discipline is missing from home by one or more parents, children will run amuck.  Add to this a growing population of non-believer's, and you have a serious problem on your hands.

School Shootings happen because of evil.

Evil thoughts and actions consume the minds of individuals with built up anger.  This anger is built up to a point where the individual explodes.  Other individuals do have mental illness as well.  However, when you have a relationship with Christ, you aim to please him.  Everything evil in this world is counter to what Christ wants for us.  The closer we get to Jesus, the further away we get from sin and Satan inspired activities.  When our focus is on Christ, it makes us a happier person.

When God is our focus, we do not focus on the hurts of this world.  When we turn away from God, we dwell on the pain and suffering in our life.  Instead of embracing the pain and suffering as a blessing, we use it as a crutch to act out our aggression.

Put God back in schools.

Until we put God back in schools, evil things will continue to happen.  The only way to safeguard yourself from evil is to have a relationship with Jesus.  People can argue all they want about banning guns and arming teachers.  Protests, demonstrations, and arguing is a waste of time and will do nothing to stop bad things from happening.  Bottom line is if you do not change the hearts and minds of people, they will continue to find a way to do bad things.  When you do not put other people before yourself, you will continue to harbor ill will.  Action is the only way to change things.

It is time we fix the cause of why school shootings happen.  Quit wasting time focusing on the symptoms.  Show love to others whom you don't agree with.  Reach out to others that have committed a wrong against you.  Help the weak and powerless.  Be a friend to the lonely.  Only through showing others Christ's love for us, will we fix what is wrong.

Philippians 2:4 NASB do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.

Ephesians 4:32 NASB Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

John 13:34-35 NASB A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
