Rock and Mineral Show 2017

Rock and Mineral Show 2017 Hemimorphite

Today was a fun day for my family and me, as we went to the annual rock and mineral show.  This is something that we all look forward to every year.  It is a fun and inexpensive way to see Gods beautiful creations.  Looking at rocks and minerals is fun for the kids because they get to hold a piece of artwork created by God.  Each piece is unique in its way.  Even if you have two of the same rock or mineral, the characteristics are similar but different at the same time.

When we were at the rock and mineral show, we also got to see a lot of fossils.  Fossils have always interested me because you get to see the framework of pre-historic creatures that walked the same earth as we do today.  It is amazing to hold in your had a tusk of a Mammoth or a tooth of a Tyrannosaurus Rex.  Can you imagine what these creatures would have looked like when they were alive?  God truly is a great designer and has blessed us with so many beautiful creations to admire.

Rock and mineral show is an excellent opportunity to share Gods greatness.

Since my children are believers, they tend to ask questions in a Biblical context.  Like why did God create Dinosaurs?  Why are the rocks different colors?  It is fun answering their questions because it gives me an opportunity to show Gods creativity and masterfulness.  Only a great God would create such beautiful things for us to enjoy.  If he created so many beautiful things here on earth, can you imagine what heaven will be like?  Here are a few verses that describe the beauty of heaven

Revelation 21:18-21 NASB The material of the wall was jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. The foundation stones of the city wall were adorned with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation stone was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst.  And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each one of the gates was a single pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.”
