Living a Purposeful Life

Purposeful Life

Up until a few years ago, I did not know what purposeful life was. I had a wife and kids and a good paying job. Everyone in my family was healthy and in a good place.t. My family went to Church every Sunday and read the Bible. But something was missing from my life. I wasn't living a purposeful life at all. My life was a self-fulfilling life.

Every move I made was to enhance my comforts or improve my position in life. You can call this type of life being self-centered, or you can call it going through the motions. What I was missing were an active spiritual walk and a purpose. I must have decided to hit up a rest stop somewhere along the way of my spiritual journey. I was still heading in the right direction, but I was not on the road. In essence, I was a Christian on the sideline.

How is a purposeful life important?

Chasing dreams that do not center around God will leave us broken and empty. We may find short-lived satisfaction in pursuing these dreams, but we will never be entirely filled. I had heard of a purposeful life before; I guess I just didn't have the desire to chase it. When you become broken and cannot find happiness in your life, you search out something better. This is what I decided to do, by searching out a purposeful life for myself.

It is amazing how your perspective changes when you are living a God-centered life. Things that used to stall or strand you are no longer obstacles in your life. Heartache turns to happiness and your days become more peaceful. Instead of wondering around aimlessly, we have clear and focused direction.

Why a purposeful life?

We seek out a purposeful life to be Christ-like followers. Instead of seeking our wishes, we, in turn, seek God's will for our life.

Romans 8:28 NASB “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
