How Do We Ignore Sin In Our Lives?

Ignore Sin

Believe it or not, we ignore sin in our lives every day.  Most of the time when we do this, we are aware of the sin in our lives.  Why is it so hard for us to turn away from these sins?

We get comfortable with our sins.  In our minds, we start to marginalize our sins.  Ignoring our sins seems like an easier road to travel instead of dealing with them head on.  All we end up doing is digging them deeper inside of us.  We make these sins a bigger part of our life.  We start to become our sins.

2 Corinthians 11:3 “But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.”

One thing that I have found from experience is that holding on to sins brings more sin into our lives.  When we leave a door open for the devil to enter our hearts, he will take full advantage of this passage.  He slowly works his way into our life.  Once he is in, he starts to weave a web of deceit in our lives.  We start to question things that are right, and we start to ignore things that are wrong.  Our lives turn upside down.

We continue down the wrong path when we ignore sin.  The devil tempts us into believing his lies.  He draws us farther away from God.  The only way we can restore our relationship with God is to confess our sins to him.  We need to ask for help with our struggles.  We must continue to pray that he removes the evil in our lives.

Why is it bad to ignore sin in our life?

If we want a relationship with God, then we must work on removing sin in our life.  When you leave a door open for the devil, he will reap havoc on your life.  Your small, unimportant sin will multiply and magnify in your life.  When sins are ignored, they don't go away.  You dig deeper into your rebellion.  You become numb to the repercussions of your sin.  Sin can even cause you to sin more.

No doubt that the devil is always going to work against you if you are a Christ follower.  Let's make it hard for him, not easy for him.  Let's replace his playground of discontent with gated walls protected by God's grace.

Ephesians 6:11 “Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”
