Why Does it Matter if We Sin Every Day of Our Life?

We sin every day regardless of how hard we try to abstain from it.  Committing small sins really don't matter is most peoples eyes.  We also commit big sins that get out roars in public opinion.  Should we focus on making a lot of small mistakes?  Does it make more sense to make just a few big mistakes?

Since we all sin every day, it shouldn't really matter what sins we are enacting.  As long as we are happy why not do it?  In the end no one got hurt.  No one knew about the sin because I hid it so well.  I'm a good person and my good deeds more than make up for my bad behavior.  No one care what I do in my own bed room.  It is none of anyone's business what I do in my own home.  They will get over it, it wasn't that big of deal.

Do you hear yourself?  Did you really just say that?

I'm sure you can relate to one of those phrases.  You have probably have used several of them in your life before.  Why does it matter if we sin?

To sin every day, separates us from God.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble.  There is no excuse that you can use to justify your sin every day.  There is nothing gained spiritually by sinning.  Sinning does not make your life better.  You will always find emptiness in sin.

Sin matters because it separates us from God.  The good news is there is a way out of our sin.  There is forgiveness of our sin.  Our sins were bought and paid for by the crucifixion of Jesus.  When Jesus died on the cross, he carried the burden of our sins.  Without the death of Jesus, we would be sentenced to an eternity of hell.

How many times can we be forgiven for our sins?  Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Every time we ask for forgiveness of our sins they will be forgiven.  As broken humans we continue to sin so we need to continue to ask for forgiveness.  When Jesus was crucified, nails were placed in his hands and the spear in his side.  When he voluntarily died for us, he died to save us from every sin, no matter how many we have.
