Only God Answers Prayers

God Answers Prayers

Only God answers prayers, period.  If you are a Christian and believe that the Bible is the inherent word of God, then you know that no one other than God will answer your prayers.  Mankind has taken the simple approach to prayer and overcomplicated it.  In fact, many people do not pray directly to God because of this.  These same people pray to objects, other people and or even Mary, the mother of God.  I have read numerous translations of the Bible, and one thing is consistent throughout and that is God.  In every translation that I have read, only God answers prayers.

If you take a look at a few verses from the Bible, it is apparent that we are supposed to pray to our Heavenly father.

Matthew 6:6 NASB But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

1 Timothy 2:5 NASB For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

1 John 5:14-15 NASB This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

Only God answers prayers.

Jesus made it clear that he is the only mediator between man and God.  Mary, the mother of Jesus, is not a mediator between man and God.  The apostles are not mediators between man and God.  If you put anyone between your prayer and God, you are not praying to God.  Jesus is 100% God and 100% man.  When you pray to someone other than God, you are minimizing the role that Jesus has.  Jesus is the only one that will speak on your behalf to God the Father.  Mary will not and the apostles will not.  You will not get your message to Heaven by sending it to a priest either.

As Christians, we can pray for each other.  Our prayers for each other are encouraged in the New Testament of the Bible.

James 5:16 NASB Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.

Much can be accomplished with the power of prayer.  Taking your need before the Lord is exactly what he wants you to do.  When Christians pray for other Christians, it brings your needs before God even more.  People can pray for your prayers to be answered by God.  However, people cannot speak for you when talking to God.  Only you can ask forgiveness of your sins.  No one can request that God forgive you of your sins on your behalf.  As sinners, we are responsible for our sins.  With that responsibility comes an obligation to speak to the father through Jesus seeking refuse and forgiveness from our sins.
