Finding Miracles in Our Lives

What exactly are miracles?  Miracles are an unsuspected positive event that can only have occurred by a divine power.  You hear people saying all of the time that they are praying for a miracle.  When your favorite sports team is loosing and the only way to turn the tide of the game is through a miracle.  When you find out that you have terminal cancer and the only way to get rid of it is through a miracle.

We all have our ideas of what miracles are.  It is human nature to measure expectations differently.  What one person wants in a miracle, another person may find meaningless.

Throughout the Bible there are many examples of miracles.  One story that stands out to me in the Bible is that of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.  In this story, King Nebuchadnezzar created a golden statue.  When the music sounded, everyone in the kingdom was to bow down and worship the statue.  Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refused to worship the statue.  Upon the King finding this out, he ordered the three men into a fiery furnace heated to seven times as its normal rate.  He wanted to show his fury with the men.

Daniel 3:24-25 “Did we not cast three men bound into the fire?  They answered, ’True O King’. He then answered and said, ’But I see four men unbound, walking in the midst of the fire, and they are not hurt; and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the Gods’.

After the men left the furnace, they were completely unharmed.  They didn't even smell like smoke.  The King seeing this, recognized the divine power exhibited and immediately stopped his people from worshiping the statue.

What kind of miracles are present in our lives?

Probably one of the most common praises for a miracle is for health related issues.  When we are healed from our emanate demise, we cannot explain the situation any other way then just a miracle.  We are all receivers of miracles.  Sometimes we just do not see it at the time.  There are many times in our life where divine intervention stopped something bad from happening to us.  Divine intervention has also stopped small problems before they become unstoppable.

Deuteronomy 10:21 “He is the one you praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes”.

The Bible tells us that we can see God's miracles with our own eyes.  There are many situations in our life that cannot be explained away by coincidence.  Miracles so great can only be explained by a divine power interacting in our lives.  Being in the right place at the right time is not pure luck, but rather a God power watching over you.
