How are we at Trusting God with Everything?

trusting God

How are you at trusting God?  Do you find yourself doubting God's promises?  Sometimes it is hard to believe that God is in control of everything in our lives.  We try to fight through our struggles without relying on God.  Sometimes we even know that God will take care of everything, but we still don't trust him.  We doubt what he says by letting ourselves get stressed out and panicking.  Instead of relaxing and letting God take control of the situation, we become our biggest road block.

I know in my life, I have struggled by not trusting God.  I have gotten into the mindset that I just need to work a little bit harder so that I can be successful.  Instead of asking God for guidance, I went straight to my problems instead.  After falling flat on my face more times than I can count, I finally saw the easiest and most fulfilling way to handle my struggles was through God.  Trusting God with everything reminds me of Thomas in the Bible.  More famously know as doubting Thomas.

John 20:24-29 NASB “But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples were saying to him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the imprint of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”

After eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus *came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.” Then He *said to Thomas, “Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.”  Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”  Jesus *said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.”

It took Thomas physically seeing Jesus to believe him.  He doubted Jesus and was not trusting God.  He is an excellent example of how we act towards God in our lives.  We need to see results in our time, not God's.  We become impatient and demand answers now.

As Christians, we put our faith in Jesus.  We might not see Jesus in a physical form here on earth, but we can see his presence all around us.  We experience miracles in our lives that have no other explanation other than divine intervention.  The spiritual wisdom that we can share with others comes from trusting God.  We can also see the amazing changes that a fruitful life bears.

Not only should we be trusting God for our salvation, but we should also be trusting him with everything in our lives.  We need God in good times and in bad.  He wants to be there to share our happiness as well as comfort us when we are having a hard time.  I can tell you that when I started trusting God with everything, it make my life a lot less stressful.  The stress was me not trusting God.  Once I started trusting God, he got rid of the weight and made obstacles in my life easier to work through and cope with.  Without him, I would continue to fight battles that I did not need to fight.
