Use Work to Serve Jesus.

serve Jesus

One of the most fulfilling things I find in my life is to serve Jesus.  We can serve Jesus by helping others.  Volunteering or showing acts of kindness is exactly what Jesus had in mind when it comes to service.  When Jesus walked this earth, he served others.  Jesus gave many examples of how to serve others and place them before yourself.  One of the most important ways that he demonstrated this was through washing his disciple's feet.  This example showed the disciples how to humble yourselves to the point that you will do anything to serve others.

This past weekend I volunteered at the Dare 2 Share conference held at our Church.  It was great to see so many young people engaged in the gospel.  Volunteering for events like this reminds me why we are placed on this earth.  It takes many people serving Jesus to put an event like this together.  It is impossible for an opportunity like this to come together without many people willing to serve Jesus.  When you work side by side with fellow believers, you find yourself in great fellowship with them.

How do you use your work to serve Jesus?

Think about your work day for a second.  How can you serve Jesus while working your job?  Each one of us has a unique opportunity at work to serve others while serving Jesus.  The biggest part of being a Christian is to be Christ-like.  The example that Jesus demonstrated for us was to be loving and kind to one another.  Remember what Jesus said about loving thy neighbor?  When asked what commandment is the foremost of all, Jesus responded:

Mark 12:30-31 and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Jesus put “love your neighbor as your self” second to loving God.  This order shows how important Jesus thought that caring for others was.  Tomorrow when you are at work, look for ways to serve others while serving Jesus.  You never know when your service will lead someone to Christ.
