Training Christians to Be Biblical Leaders

Training Christians

Training Christians to be Biblical leaders is one of the most important things that a Church can do.  I have been to numerous Churches over the years that have mixed messages on what it means to witness to others.  In fact, a lot of these Churches do not properly train their flock on what witnessing is.

I think that part of the reason why there is such a steady decay in our society is that Christians have become cowards.  They want someone else to do what they are called by Jesus to do.  Instead of witnessing and going out the world and spreading the gospel, they want someone else to do it for them.  Too many Christians lean on their Church or elected officials to push their agenda instead of doing what Jesus called us to do as Christ followers.

If you look at your life, you can probably identify with what I am saying.  You may not like being called out, but I think you should listen to what I am saying.

Do you find yourself in one of the following situations?

You donate money to your Church so that they can go out and feed the hungry in the world or your community?  Do you give the money because you do not want to make contact with the hungry personally?  Or are you too consumed with your life that you don't have the time to help others in need?

Do you write your legislator and tell them they need to make laws against same-sex marriage?  You find the time to write the letters to elected officials or post something on Facebook for your friends to read.  Do you reach out to someone with a life style that you disagree with and witness to them?  Do you show them God's love and try to help them get to know Christ?  Or is it easier for someone to regulate others because you do not want to reach out to them?

Have you ever stood on the corner of Planned Parent hood to protest abortions?  Do you think to yourself we need to stop murdering babies?  Have you ever reached out to the struggling teen and tried to get to them before they become pregnant?  Have you showed love and compassion to someone who is pregnant that you look down upon?  Wouldn't it make more sense to get to the root of the issue before it becomes an issue?  Or is it easier to just stand on the street corner waving your sign?

Training Christians to reach the world.

What are we doing about training Christians to reach the world?  Are we showing Christ followers the path that Jesus wants us to walk down?

Acts 10:42 NASB “And He ordered us to preach to the people, and solemnly to testify that this is the One who has been appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead.”

Jesus ordered his disciples to preach to the people and to tell the world about him.  Jesus didn't say to let the Church do all of the work.  He certainly did not expect the government to step in and enforce Biblical teachings.  What he did say is that we, followers of Jesus, are to go out into all of the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.  Our lips and our words speak much louder than our signs, letters or Facebook posts.  When we hide from the world and passively spread the good news, we are not fulfilling Jesus's desire for our lives.

Mark 16:15 NASB “And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

My plea to you is this.  Stop being passive when sharing the gospel with others.  Be direct and be bold.  Witnessing to others is spreading the good news of Jesus.  Judging others is not part of witnessing.  Picking and poking at others flaws will not lead them to salvation.  We only need to worry about sharing the gospel.  Leave the judgment to God.
