Talking about a destructive Christian is not a topic that you will typically hear in the pew at Church. It defies the message and purpose of the Bible. A destructive Christian can cultivate anger and hurt. They can lead people away from Gods word. When I talk about a destructive Christian, I bet a person or two come to mind. Instead of bearing the fruits of the spirit, they are the branch that is pruned off of the vine.
Galatians 5:22-23 NASB “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
A destructive Christian will show hate and anger towards others. They may be unkind in their words or deeds. They have little self-control and toss other Christians aside in their acts. How can someone claim to be a Christian but work in a manner opposite the Bible? It is a difficult road of frustration and hurt. You may never know what bitterness grows inside this person. All that you may be exposed to is the repercussions of their unfulfilling Godless life.
Do not become a destructive Christian.
No matter the hurt and pain that we endure, we have no place becoming a destructive Christian. Actions contrary to the Bible do not make our walk with the Lord stronger. They weaken our abilities to live a God-centered life. I have been on both sides of the destructive Christian front. I have chosen paths in the past that were not God-honoring. My actions caused people not to want to be around me. No matter who you are, there is always someone that looks up to you. When you lead by a negative example, people follow your lead.
Having opened my eyes, I was able to overcome a lot of the destructive Christian that I had become. I see others close to me struggling just as I had in the past. It is somber to see someone that you are close to whether it be a family member or friend fall into this dark place. You can see how the actions of the destructive Christian tear others down and destroy their lives. Those that look up to the destructive Christian, mainly Children are sent walking down the wrong road.
Do not put your hope in people.
We cannot have our faith in people because people fail us. Strong Christians have their faith in God and are not separated by a destructive Christian. We must understand the responsibility we have as Christians. If we are destructive, it can lead nonbelievers away from God. If we are raising our children up in this environment, they may not grow to know the Lord. Our impact can affect someone for eternity. After reading this, if you see yourself as a destructive Christian, change your ways. Seek the Bible for guidance. Do not wear the Christian band on your shoulder if you are going to use it in a destructive way.
