Do you Stand up for Your Christian Values?

When you are attacked, do you stand up for your Christian values?  Is it easier for you to pretend that you are not a Christian and deny your God?  We have all been put in situations where our Christian values are tested.  Some of us can stand up for God while others tremble at the thought of opposition.

I believe one of the biggest contributing factors to why the world is in such moral decay is because of weak Christians.  When Satan does not have opposition, he runs amuck.  As followers of Jesus, we are to be the salt and the light of the world. How can you possibly be the salt and light when you cower at the thought of fighting the opposition?

Luke 22:61-62 NASB “The Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, “Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.”

Take a look at Peter in the scriptures.  He denied Jesus three times.  Jesus even told Peter that he would deny him.  Knowing this, Peter still ended up denying Jesus.  Do we find ourselves like Peter when confronted by non-believers?  Do we tremble when we are put on the spot and are asked to proclaim our heavenly father?

Christian values are being attacked everywhere in our lives.

Back in 2012, you saw what happened when Chick-Fil-A COO Dan Cathy openly voiced his opposition to gay marriage.  Mr. Cathy was speaking of his personal beliefs.  Not only was he attacked, but the company he operated was as well.  Intolerant critics could not stand the fact that someone would dare question their agenda.  Mr. Cathy proclaimed Biblical truths and was attacked for this.

Another example of getting attacked for following Biblical principals was the 2014 Hobby Lobby case.  This case which ended up in the Supreme Court was brought to litigation because Hobby Lobby refused to include birth control in their employer-provided health care program.  The company which is owned by Christians refused to pay for birth control which they argued was contrary to their Christian beliefs.

Being lukewarm

There are countless examples in the news that demonstrate Christians being attacked for their beliefs.  We are attacked in our personal lives as well.  As Christians, we are called to stand firm in our beliefs.  When we cower to non-believers, we enter the yolks of slavery.  This is the same slavery that we were delivered from by the blood of Christ.  Being bold in proclaiming the truths of the Bible while at the same time trying to witness to non-believers is hard.  Being a coward and not standing up for your God, it not what you were designed for.

Galatians 5:1 NASB “It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.”

When you become a believer, you need to be bold.  God wants us hot or cold, not lukewarm.  You are not furthering the Kingdom of God by being neutral and silent in the face of opposition.  Revelation tells us how God views our lack of inaction on his behalf.

Revelation 3:16 NASB  “So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.”
