Skeletons in a conservative Christians closet can haunt them for the rest of their lives.  If you have watched the news lately, I am sure that you have seen stories on Senate candidate Roy Moore.  Whether these stories are true or lack the merit necessary to pursue criminal charges is yet to be seen.  Moore has been an advocate for conservative Christian causes while being a judge in Alabama.  Moore is best known for his refusal to remove a Ten Commandments monument that was commissioned by him.

I don't want to beat this story to death like the media is doing.  What I would like to talk a little bit about is skeletons in a conservative Christians closet.  All of us have things that we have done in our past that we are not proud.  Some of the mistakes we made held us back in life.  Other mistakes hurt someone personally because of our bad behavior.  No matter who we are or what our mistakes have been, we are defined by how we handle our acceptance of these errors.

Living the Christian life is not easy.  Just like Jesus told the disciples in the Bible, the world will hate us.  This statement means that we will not only be held to a higher standard but arguably a different standard.  When we do not confront and accept the punishment for the mistakes of our past, we will be persecuted later.

Skeletons in a conservative Christians closet leave you vulnerable to evil.

If you are hiding something that you have done in your life, inevitably it will show its self at some point.  We can avoid most of the scrutiny and spears by confessing our sin to Christ and accepting the punishment for our sin.  Even if our sin seems hidden, Satan can and will use it against you when he can.  When you are upfront and honest about your mistakes and seek forgiveness, you control the narrative.  Instead of having to defend your actions and cover your mistake with lies, you can speak the truth.  The longer you keep something buried, the harder it is, to tell the truth, to get it out.

The Bible tells us to speak the truth.  Skeletons in a conservative Christians closet will only be set free when you tell the truth.  Don't let Satan back you into a corner of deceit by trying to hide the truth.

John 8:32 NASB 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
