Restore the Old Being Made New in Christ

being made new

I have a barn on my property that is being made new.  We bought the acreage several years ago and with the property came several old farm buildings.  Our office for our business is a converted corn crib.  When we were working on restoring the building, we had to get rid of several truck loads of corn cobs.  You wouldn't recognize the building now.  It looks like a new commercial office with a lot of character.

My new project is the old hog shed.  This building is being made new as well.  The hog shed was built around 1900 and hasn't had a face lift since it was built.  We got a new roof put on several weeks ago, which completely changed the look of the building.  Today we were working on removing the exterior paint on the cement block walls to get it ready for a fresh coat of paint.  After everything is said and done, you won't recognize the building from a year ago.  It is a cool process to see the building being made new.

How does our life change when we are being made new by God?

Just like the old barns on my property, our lives sometimes need an extreme makeover.  I am not talking about the show Extreme Makeover where the outward appearance of people is changed.  I am speaking about being made new in Christ.  See, when we accept Christ as our personal savior, we are made new.  Instead of being sentenced to an eternity in hell, our sins have been bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus.

When we are being made new by God, things change in our life.  We experience a transformation to the likes we have never seen before.  Instead of being empty inside, we are filled with the holy spirit.  The holy spirit does amazing things for you.  Your attitude and your heart will start to change.  Your decision-making process will also differ.  Instead of thinking about your selfish needs, you will start to put others first in your life.  Joy will come to you when you become Christ-like and share your blessings with others.

The greatest experience.

The most significant experience in my life was when I finally figured out how to be Christ-like.  It is amazing what you can do with the holy spirit that lives inside you if you just allow it to work in your life.  There are a lot of Christians that believe in the Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Sadly many people do not use the holy spirit to share the good news of the gospel with other people.

When we trust Jesus as our personal savior, we are being made new.  No longer are we chained to our sins.  Jesus sets us free from our past mistakes no matter how bad or significant they may be.  When you have the Holy Spirit inside you, you will find joy and peace.
