Man's best friend are what they call dogs. Dog's are loyal and always there for us. They do not have a bad day. They are there to comfort us when we are having a bad day. We spend lots of time with them. In fact the more time we spend together, the closer we get.
Over the Christmas break this year, we decided to get another dog. Our family picked out a Great Dane puppy. We had a Great Dane before and always loved the temperament of the dog. We like starting with a puppy so that we can raise and train her the way we want her to be trained. In just a week of teaching and interaction, she has adapted well to her new life. The more we play with her and are around her, the bigger part of our family and life she becomes. As a dog owner and lover, I can see why they are called man's best friend.
How are we like man's best friend?
1 Peter 2:2 NASB “like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation,
Peter tells us that we should yearn for the word of God so that we grow in Christ and be saved. Man's best friend is a good example of how we start to engage with our master. When we are new Christians, we are weak and are not close to our master. But the more we long for a change in our life and dig into the word, the more we grow as Christians. Part of building a strong bond between a master and a servant is by obedience. As Christians, it is up to us to learn about God by reading the scriptures and praying continuously.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NASB Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
The longer our walk and journey with Christ is, the closer we become to him. We seek to obey his example. We follow him, we learn from his word, and we are always trying to please him. The more we please our master who created us, the happier we become as followers.
