Being a Godly Leader in Peoples Lives

What is a Godly leader and why is it important?  We all need a leader or role model in our life.  Someone who we can look up to.  A person who will show us the right path to travel on.  Someone who will hold us accountable when we fail.  Someone who will show us a great example to follow.

Picking the right Godly leader in our life is important.  Some leaders that we inherit and are not Godly.  We must seek out wise council and a strong Godly leader.  How do we know what person fits the role in our lives?

When we are children, we look up to our parents or grand parents.  We mimic them and want to be like them.  If they have a solid Christian foundation, they make a great Godly leader.  What happens when we have no connection with our parents?  Where do we find council from?

Being a part of a community of believers such as a Church is another source to find a Godly leader.  You may find leader in a friend or neighbor.  You may even look up to Billy Graham or Joel Osteen.

Godly leaders are reflections of God.

Before you jump in and choose to build your spiritual life around a person, consider this.  Are the teachings of this person Biblically based?  There should always be parallels to the Bible.  You should see the Bible living in a Godly leaders life.  Everything from how they pray to how they treat others.

You should be able to see the fruits of this person.  What I mean is that when you live a Godly life, others can see it in you.  Do they have compassion for others?  Do they have a relationship with Jesus other than just reading the Bible?  Does this person put others first in their lives?  Do they lead you to God?

Godly leaders such as Billy Graham have risen to the forefront not because they are such great people.  They are Godly leaders because they lead people to God.  Only someone that leads others to God can be a Godly leader.  Anything else doesn't matter.  If you are struggling with your relationship with God, seek out a Godly leader.  A person that is solely dedicated to leading you to God.  Continue to pray for God's work through this person.

I leave you with this.

Titus 1:7-14 “For an overseer, as God's steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it. For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party. They must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach.”
