Are we Forcing Our Religion on Our Kids?

Forcing our Religion

Are we forcing our religion on our children?  Christianity is unique, unlike other faiths.  If we see Christianity as a religion, we are missing what Christianity is.  If we are forcing our religion on our children, then we are not showing God's will.  Being a Christian is about a relationship with Christ.  It is not about sitting in a pew and singing worship hymns.  It is not about doing good deeds.  You cannot scare someone into becoming a Christian.

Becoming a Christian is a leap of faith.  It is a yearning for a relationship with your Savior.  Religions of the world have many things in common.  They have certain steps you must follow to honor your God.  Good deeds will be rewarded.  Some religions even honor their God by mistreating or killing others.  Intimidation is their call to greatness instead of letting their God shine on its being.

Forcing our religion on our kids does not get them saved.

Why is our God so unique?  Several things make Jesus different than any other “God.”  Jesus was the only God to die for our sins.  This is significant because it shows that he loves us and cares for us.  It shows us that he will take care of us.  We can find comfort in knowing that our salvation is in him.  Our sins have been bought and paid for by him.

Secondly, our God came to this earth as a sinless man.  Jesus is the only person ever to walk the earth that was sinless.  This shows his perfection.

Jesus is the only God ever to die and come back to life.  Jesus was crucified for our sins.  He was dead for three days and rose again.

Jesus is such a unique God.  There has and never will be anything like him.  His life speaks for itself.  We cannot be forcing our religion on others.  If we do, we are missing the point.  Others are not taking a leap of faith.  We have a gift from God, all we have to do is accept it.  Our works and deeds will not get us into heaven.  Only our faith in Jesus.

Work on showing your children the way to salvation.  Forcing our religion on them will not save them.  It will create a false sense of obedience to God.  I will leave you with these two verses.

Hebrews 11:6 NASB “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”

Ephesians 2:8 NASB “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and [a]that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;”
