Choosing A New Direction in Life Today

New Direction in Life

Lately, I have been thinking about a new direction in life.  I have been a small business owner my entire adult life.  I started from scratch right out of high school.  Building a decent sized company that employs many people.  Business is always a challenge and a struggle at the same time.  You constantly get things thrown at you that you have to figure out.  Since you are the one in charge, you always have the final say.

Employing people is a struggle in itself.  You can never find enough people to replicate your business model just as you intend.  Employees bring their home life to work, and that is never a good thing.  You constantly ask yourself why you started your business.  Why are you still pushing forward when everyone is pushing back against you?  The challenge becomes more of a struggle.  Challenges are fun.  When you have the challenge to overcome, you see it as a game.  Struggles are different.  Struggles are hard and not fun to work through.  You need a new direction in life.

Struggles create a new direction in life.

I try to separate struggles and challenges in my life.  Challenges are obtainable tasks that I can work on and achieve.  Struggles continue day after day.  No end in sight and you can almost never find a way out.  When we finally realize what the struggles in our life are, we want to give up.  We need a new direction in life to change course.  We need help with our struggles because we cannot conquer them alone.

What are the struggles in our life?  How do we set a new direction in life?  When you talk about business, it is pretty easy.  Get out and start something new.  Something exciting that will light a fire in your soul.  Chase the dream that you wanted to, but were held back by another dream instead.  Surround yourself with other like minded people that believe in the same vision.

You can also draw parallels to Christianity.  Are we struggling in our life?  Do we keep pushing forward and never get ahead?  Why not create a new direction in your life.  Believe in something that is different, something that is exciting.  Surround yourself with other believers for encouragement.  Work together on the same vision.  Encourage each other and grow together.

Proverbs 3:5-6 NASB “Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.

Jeremiah 29:11 NASB  “For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.”
